The History of the School

The University of Medical Sciences in Kermanshah, as one of the prominent and capable universities in the country, placed the establishment of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences on its agenda in 2017. This university prepared the ground for establishing this faculty by recruiting faculty members in the field of rehabilitation at the doctoral level, allocating suitable physical space for theoretical and clinical education, and purchasing necessary equipment and facilities for specialized rehabilitation clinics.

In this regard, Dr. Liba Rezaei, a member of the faculty of occupational therapy, was introduced as the person in charge of setting up the school.

After repeated follow-ups by the Educational Affairs Office and face-to-face meetings between the university president and officials from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry issued a formal approval to establish the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences with three undergraduate programs (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy) in December 2019.

In June of this year, after officials from the Ministry of Health visited the university and reviewed the faculty's capabilities and infrastructure, two admission quotas of 10 students each were allocated for the physical therapy and occupational therapy programs for January 2021.

Finally, on 16 December 2020, the approval for student admission in the physical therapy and occupational therapy programs was issued by the Ministry of Health, and the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences officially began its operations.
